If My Voice Is Heard At All

If my voice is heard at all, let it be heard whispering hope to those longing to hear.

Let it be heard by those who have been sold lies disguised as truth.
Let it be heard by those broken hearts who have searched for the Healer for too long.
Let it be heard in the hallways packed with aching minds searching for truth.

Let it be heard proclaiming, “Brothers and sisters, you can be free!”

Free from rules and checklists.
Free from shame and fear.
Free from the lies that say you must try harder.
Free to wander, to grow, to explore.
Free to love.

Let it be heard by my friends and my pastors,
by my wife and my children,
by my brothers and sisters,
and let it echo back through the years and set my own fearful heart free.

Brothers and sisters, you can be free!

Keep questioning.
Keep longing.
Keep fighting.

Don’t let anyone convince you that your desire is rebellion. (They will try.)
Don’t let anyone convince you to bury your heart alive. (They will try.)
Don’t let anyone convince you that bondage is freedom. (They will try.)

You’ll know when you are free, because you’ll find yourself praying…

If my voice is heard at all, let it be heard shouting hope to those aching to hear,
“Brothers and sisters, you can be free!”
